The Iraqi government has sent a letter to the United Nations informing that the Islamic State (IS) has acquired 2,500 degraded chemical rockets filled with deadly nerve agent sarin. IS had entered the Iraqi chemical site on 11 June and disarmed all the soldiers that were guarding the facility. The cameras located on site had recorded the IS looting materials before the camera’s were shut off. This is very dangerous as it is unknown if the rockets filled with sarin gas are ready or are useless. The facility was inspected by the United Nations back in the 90s however it is unknown the exact status of the Iraqi chemical weapons facility. There is no evidence as to why the IS removed materials from the chemical facility. This is important because the Iraqi government made a point to send a letter to the United Nations. This tells me that if the UN inspectors were there prior than something was inside that was a concern to the Iraqi government.
