I have updated the Important Iraq Dates and as you can see we are about a week away from Ramadan celebration. As you all know when Ramadan starts what are the chances of any significant thing happening in the Iraqi Parliament or within the Iraqi Government. I hope I am wrong and they pass all kinds of pending and badly needed legislation when the new incoming Iraqi parliament members come together on 8 September. I am sure some things will get done just have to wait and see exactly which things.
There has been a few significant things occurring in Baghdad but you wouldn’t know it by reading the forums whom are waiting for or have seen the Chapter Seven mother ship lift off. Just joking. Everyone knows that Chapter Seven Resolutions are still in effect, right!!
Just recently and pay attention because this is important in Iraqi politics. The awakenings have decided to align themselves with PM Maliki just as along as the PM does not allow any Sectarian groups to join. The group the PM has is called the Rule of Law Alliance and the entire awakening group is ready to join. This is a smart move by the PM because it prevents the ISCI and Chalabi group from joining the Iraq Prime Minister’s group and gaining any seats in the National elections next year. PM Maliki is attempting to create a national and non Sectarian list within his Rule of Law Alliance and with this move the PM is doing exactly what he said he was going to do.
The political climate is the thing to watch and you will learn how far are you away from your dream as everything is being prepared for the national elections next year and after.
Robbing Banks has been very lucrative business over the last several years as just recently the Al-Zuwiya Branch of the Rafidain Bank was robbed and eight guards killed and the robbers made off with the Police and MoI payroll totaling about 4.5 billion Iraqi Dinars. The bank robbery was discovered after the bank employees arrived for there daily work and discovered the guards dead. We hope that the robbers and everyone involved in this robbery and all the bank robbing in Iraq will be brought to justice.
The Al-Zuwiya Branch robbery is the most recent but by far the largest. The largest bank robbery as I mentioned a few years ago was the Rasheed Bank in Ramadi in June 2005 which the robbers took $13.5 million U.S. Dollars back when dollars was king. In June 2008 another payroll was stolen the Baghdad’s Mustansiriya University, of 500K U.S. Dollars. In July 2007 another bank robbery of an Iraq Private Bank. Guess which bank this was? Never mind. The robbers scored $600K U.S.. In July 2006, another robbery of the Al-Istithmar Investment Bank in Mansour District, as the robbers were dressed up military uniforms and driving police cars so they say and took $1.4 million U.S. dollars. How about 8 June 2006, robbers went inside the Al-Rafidian Bank in Amiriya District and stole $850,000 U.S. dollars. As you can see Iraq has a problem with bank robbers and should do what ever is necessary to stop these robberies and hold the suspects accountable and everyone that is involved as it creates a problem for all the banks inside Iraq. The Iraqi banking industry in order to mitigate the loss have to hire and employ needed security to protect the banks assets and those costs go back to the customers in higher fee’s which adds more pressure to the average Iraqi.
The Resolutions of Chapter Seven on Iraq are alive and well. They never were lifted or removed even after the Prime Minister of Iraq visited the United States last July and the PM plead his case to the U.S. while he was also lining up some deals for Iraq. The PM is getting ready for the International Compact that is coming up in a few months in Baghdad as you look at my Iraq important Dates it will be here before you know it. And one more thing before I forget IF and that is a big if when the resolutions are lifted it does not mean an RV is imminent or even close. There are some Iraq banking laws that are in need of passing and other legislation needed for an RV to come up on the radar screen.
Look for Chapter Seven to continue until up to the end of the year or even past the National Elections at which time you never know PM Malki after winning may have a little more Juice to shake off the Chapter Seven but he has to convince the Russians first. The Russians want to expand there military presence and to do that you need black gold and cash. The Oil and Gas law and Chapter Seven go together. I have mentioned this before your just not paying attention.
Ramadan is one week away and as a reminder remember to not eat, drink or smoke in front of muslims as they celebrate the festival of Ramadan. Ramadan is the most sacred of all Islamic religious observances. It’s only a month and than Eid celebration after that for three days.
Changing Iraq Currency. Here we go again with the recent Arab media reporting mentioning the printing of new Iraq currency. You can’t say that I didn’t warn you as I have mentioned the dinar currency exchange in my blog how many times? I don’t see this happening until after the national elections. This is going to be a slow process but it will happen as the currency needs a new look with those nice authorized signatures. When this does happen be sure to get your smuggled Iraqi dinar back to Iraq in time before the borders are shut down and the exchange is taking place inside Iraq. Don’t worry about your secret code as Bank of America will be sitting on the sidelines watching the exchange take place wishing it was Chase Bank inside Iraq along with Citi Bank. The Chase Bank Baghdad branch is coming up nice will send pictures when it’s completed. You betcha!
RV Update is still the same as the last time I mentioned it. There is no evidence on the ground that would make me believe that an RV is about to take place. Nothing! If it was I would be talking about it. The Iraqi’s are worried about food prices and how much more in price there are going to go up and about the ration card. RV is not even on there minds. What is? Survival.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq Shebibi recently visited the Cleric Sistani. Shebibi told the Cleric Iraq was in debt for about 140 Billion U.S. Dollars and needed a loan from the Cleric Sistani. Sistani said he would get back with him on that after Ramadan. After that conversation Shebebi smokes a cuban, drank Chai and left.

I almost forgot the Ministry of Industry and Minerals is going to cut off the electricity in the Industrial area or factories. This would cut off power to cement factories, the same factories that are making the cement for reconstruction projects in Iraq. The Ministry wants to lesson the load on the national grid. They don’t realize there are hurting there economy because also the Phosphate factories will shut off and the Chemical factories that are in western Iraq. No water means the farmers can’t water crops and there goes the food prices again. Chemical factories can’t purify water so Cholera cases are going to go up. It’s a mess and hopefully General Electric can do something quick.
Just so you know everything written is for entertainment purposes and if anything comes true what I have written it is just a mere coincidence.
