In December 2011, Iranians captured a U.S. drone, the Lockheed Martin RQ-170. Since the incident occurred the Iranians are now stating that they will be producing a version of the RQ-170. It will be interesting to see if the Iranians can produce a stealth drone as advanced as the U.S. RQ-170. The Iranians had previously stated that they had created a stealth drone.
On May 9 2013, the Iranian Defense Minister, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, showcased to the world a new drone called the Hemaseh (Epic) and went on to say.
“This drone has been built by defense industry experts and is simultaneously capable of surveillance, reconnaissance and missile and rocket attacks,” Vahidi said on the sidelines of the ceremony.
“This aircraft with its stealth quality can avoid detection by the enemy,” he added.
Here is a picture of the new Iranian drone.
Take a look at the propeller; non-retractable landing gear and external weapons systems.
Those features were never previously on a stealth drone.
You can review the day of the showing of the new “Stealth Iranian drone.”
Last week the Bahrain Interior Minister, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, reported that an Iranian drone had been found in between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The picture was taken while the drone was in the water. The picture is not a good one however, you can see what appears to be a drone.
The Iranian government denied having their drone ever went into Bahrain air space. Hopefully the Bahrain government in the future will release more information or media in reference to the Iranian drone. Just like when the rebels in Syria recorded a video of a recently shot down unidentified drone most likely a Syrian or Iranian drone.
In 2014 the USS Ponce will have a laser weapon to shoot down enemy drones. Watch the interesting video about the laser weapon.
If your wondering why I’ve decided to post about drones and Syria its because its getting closer to a regional war that will undoubtedly effect the middle east.
