Over the past several weeks Prime Minister Maliki has been in and out of meetings discussing various government business topics. One of those topics is in regards to the ration card. PM Maliki has assigned the provincial councils the primary responsibility of the ration card. The responsibility includes keeping up with supplies and distributing them in coordination with the Trade Ministry. In addition, the provincial councils will be given broader powers in terms of implementing projects and responding to people’s demands. The Prime Minister has also called for new elections for the provincial councils in districts and sub-districts and expects these elections to occur as soon a possible.
